Checkmate
This project was working with icons to exhibit a cohesive theme of our choice. The theme I chose for this project was “Animals”.

I decided to focus this piece on animal abuse. I used the concept of chess pieces to exhibit the idea of humans playing around with the lives of animals. Using Illustrator, I created four different icons around the same theme. The first two are intact, one being a horse to indicate the idea of chess pieces being involved, and the tiger being an endangered species. The rabbit that is cracked represents animal testing, and the elephant with the broken bloody tusks represent animal hunting for their parts.
reflection
This was one of the most memorable and first ever design-intensive project I encountered. As dark as the piece is, I’m glad that I took the opportunity to focus on something that needs awareness. It was my first time working thoroughly in Illustrator as well, so it helped me become familiar with all the tools.
