Vaccines & Us

A national collaboration of cultural organizations, led by the Smithsonian, invites artists and designers to submit artwork to support vaccine education. The initiative, “Vaccines and US: Cultural Organizations for Community Health,” selects works for use on posters, social media, and promotional materials.

get yours

My first submission focused on the idea that getting your vaccination card was an achievement, and part of a united effort to ensure that things can get better from the pandemic. I illustrated a hand passing a vaccination card to another hand showing how it’s a collective effort to get vaccinated.

pop your bubble

My second submission played on the metaphor of everyone being in a bubble due to the pandemic, and the way to “pop” the bubble and be free is to get vaccinated. The Illustration shows a woman who has a band-aid on her arm, showing her vaccination status is what can allow her to safely pop her bubble.

reflection

This was one of my favorite projects to do in class because I took a very illustrative approach, which gave me the opportunity to practice those skills. It was also part of an initiative that is very important during the pandemic, so it was great to address it with a design perspective.
